"Young Adults Keep Closer Eye on Online Reputation"

Team Penguin read an article on how kids, or young adults, are watching their profiles more carefully than many people think. A few common social networking sites that are of the main concern are Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter. We believe that it is common for adults to worry about their children posting personal things on their profile pages that could hurt their reputations at such an early age. However, the facts are, based on USA Today's research, that "44% of young adult Internet users say they take steps to limit the amount of information available about them, compared to 33% of users ages 30 to 49 and 25% of those ages 50 to 64". Therefore, adults are actually the ones taking less precautions when online. The chart below gives an idea of what percentage, based on age, limit the information they provide on social networking sites:

This article, with data provided by Pew Internet & American Life Project gives insight to who is more concerned with keeping their information private. We are not saying that all young adults work to take their personal information off of the Internet. The bottom line is young adults are often more tech savvy than adults and do take action to protect themselves while online.
