Twitter + Surgery = Death?

On February 9, 2010, 7 a.m. at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan doctors are ready for surgery to remove a tumor for a person’s kidney. Also in the room is a man at the computer ready to tweet as the surgery goes along. Everyone from doctors to medical students to the just plain curious were following along as the doctors cut in. Some were thinking this is a great use for technology while others were think it was a horrible idea. The reason that the doctors decided to do this was to let people know that a kidney tumor could be removed without taking the entire kidney. If you ask me there are better ways to do this without being distracted by Twitter and for some reason they didn’t seem to understand that. If you are not sure what you think of this or you do support it, ask yourself this. How would you feel if the doctor who was cutting in to your body (possibly vital organs) with sharps metal instruments was just as worried about tweeting as he was not killing you? If you want to look at the full article all you have to do is go here.

I guess this is multi-tasking gone wrong, huh?
